Lenovo Places US$2.7 Bln Orders with Taiwan's Quanta, Compal, Wistron

China-based Lenovo Group is expected to place procurement orders worth US$2.7 billion with Taiwanese PC manufacturers including Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics, and Wistron, Taiwan's Commercial Times reported on August 21, 2009. It is reported that Quanta has obtained Lenovo's netbook PC order, and Quanta's shipment is projected to account for around 30% of Lenovo's overall shipment volume in 2010. Meanwhile, Compal is expected to manufacture Ideapad notebook PCs for Lenovo, while Wistron lands the order for ultra-slim CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) notebook PCs.

The deals were made during the third Chinese procurement delegation organized by the AETATS (Association of Economy and Trade across Taiwan Straits). Other notable members of the delegation include Konka Group and Hasee Computer. It is reported that Konka will purchase flat panels and network devices in Taiwan, while Hasee plans to procure electronic components.
